What the parish council does

The parish council is the first tier of local government for Bucknell. Councillors meet in public, agree how the parish precept is spent, comment on planning applications that affect the village, and look after local matters such as the playing field and the village hall.

Some things are not ours to decide. District and county matters — such as planning decisions themselves, roads, bins and schools — sit with Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council. If you are not sure who to ask, contact the clerk and you will be pointed the right way.

Planning and development

Several proposals affect Bucknell and the land around it. Each has its own page with the background and the council's position:

  • Cherwell Local Plan 2040
  • Hawkwell proposal
  • Himley proposal
  • Ardley Rail Freight Interchange

General planning information is on the planning page. The current status of each proposal and any deadline for comments are not confirmed here, so please check the relevant page or ask the clerk before you rely on a date.
